O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need: We humbly beseech thee to behold, visit and relieve thy sick servant for whom our prayers are desired. Look upon him with the eyes of thy mercy; comfort him with a sense of thy goodness; preserve him from the temptations of the enemy; and give him patience under his affliction. In thy good time, restore him to health, and enable him to lead the residue of his life in thy fear, and to thy glory; and grant that finally he may dwell with thee in life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
"Personal ministry is not about always knowing what to say. It is not about fixing everything in sight that is broken. Personal ministry is about connecting people with Christ so that they are able to think as he would have them think, desire what he says is best, and do what he calls them to do even if their circumstances never get 'fixed.' It involves exposing hurt, lost, and confused people to God's glory, so that they give up their pursuit of their own glory and live for his. It is about so thoroughly embedding people's personal stories in the larger story of redemption that they approach every situation and relationship with a 'God's story' mentality. We need to be filled with awe at what the Lord has called us to participate in! ... Biblical personal ministry is more about perspective, identity, and calling than about fixing what is broken" (Paul D. Tripp, Instruments in the Redeemer's Hands: People in Need of Change Helping People in Need of Change, 2001, pp. 185-186).

to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God,
to feed the mind with the truth of God,
to purge the imagination by the beauty of God,
to open the heart to the love of God,
to devote the will to the purpose of God."
"By age ten to twelve, scores of children have already left home. I am not referring to the tragic "Times Squares kids" in New York City or your community. I refer to the numbers of children who, by age ten to twelve, have effectively left Mom or Dad as an authority or reference point for their lives" (p xvii).In this day and age where parental authorities are so undermined that children can now sue their parents if they perceive their freedom have been violated by their parents, it is important to go back to the biblical view of parental authority. On the other hand, there are many parents who abuse their authority figures as parents, those who forget that their authority is merely a derivation of God's, given to them for a specific purpose: to teach their children to be under the ultimate authority that is God himself.
"You exercise authority as God's agent. You may not direct your children for your own agenda or convenience. You must direct your children on God's behalf for their good. Our culture tends toward the extreme poles on a continuum. In the area of authority, we tend to be either toward a crass kind of John Wayne authoritarianism or toward being a wimp. God calls you by his Word and his example to be authorities who are truly kind. God calls you to exercise authority, not in making your children do what you want, but in being true servants--authorities who lay down your lives. The purpose for your authority in their lives of your children is not to hold them under your power, but to empower them to be self-controlled people living freely under the authority of God" (p. xix-xx).
Basically, Evangel is in fact an evangelist. His music is primarily sermonic, an appeal to the unsaved and to fellow believers alike to be more firmly rooted in the deep doctrinal truths of the Reformation.Voice yg juga terkenal di US di-'endorse' oleh Pdt John Piper saat ia mengundang Voice untuk perform di gerejanya sebuah piece berjudul Unstoppable:
"We have to condemn publicly the very idea that some people have the right to repress others. In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousandfold in the future. When we neither punish nor reproach evildoers, we are not simply protecting their trivial old age, we are thereby ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations."Yang luar biasa bagi saya adalah bahwa sebagian besar dari bukunya sebenarnya ia telah tulis di penjara, tepatnya ia telah hafalkan di kepalanya setiap hari, ratusan bahkan ribuan baris kalimat, agar dia dapat menuangkannya dalam bentuk tulisan saat ia dilepaskan dari penjara. Konfiksi ini begitu kuat berada dalam dirinya. Dia dilepaskan dari Gulag pada hari yang sama Stalin meninggal. Namun kemerdekaannya tersebut tidak dia isi dengan hidup berfoya-foya. Ia membuat sebuah resolusi untuk terus menulis dan mengajar. Ia menulis:
"I could have enjoyed myself so much, breathing the fresh air, resting, stretching my cramped limbs, but my duty to the dead permitted no such self-indulgence. They are dead! You are alive: Do your duty. The world must know all about it."Meski ia mengenali konfiksi hidupnya di usia senja, namun konfiksi tersebut mengubah drastis arah dan fokus hidupnya. Ia merasa begitu berhutang kepada para korban tanpa nama yang tewas di tangan Stalin, dan kemudian memilih untuk menjadikan hal tersebut menjadi misi pribadinya dihadapan Allah.
However, in early democracies, as in the American democracy at the time of its birth, all individual human rights were granted because man is God's creature. That is, freedom was given to the individual conditionally, in the assumption of his constant religious responsibility. Such was the heritage of the preceding thousand years. Two hundred or even fifty years ago, it would have seemed quite impossible, in America, that an individual could be granted boundless freedom simply for the satisfaction of his instincts or whims. Subsequently, however, all such limitations were discarded everywhere in the West; a total liberation occurred from the moral heritage of Christian centuries with their great reserves of mercy and sacrifice. State systems were -- State systems were becoming increasingly and totally materialistic. The West ended up by truly enforcing human rights, sometimes even excessively, but man's sense of responsibility to God and society grew dimmer and dimmer.Melalui kacamata iman Kristen inilah, Solzhenitsyn mengerti bagaimana kejahatan (evil) seperti yang ia alami sendiri dapat dikalahkan. Ia menulis dalam bukunya bahwa garis yang memisahkan antara kebaikan dan kejahatan ada dalam hati manusia:
"It was granted to me to carry away from my prison years on my bent back, which nearly broke beneath its load, this essential experience: how a human being becomes evil and how good. In the intoxication of youthful successes I had felt myself to be infallible, and I was therefore cruel. In the surfeit of power I was a murderer and an oppressor. In my most evil moments I was convinced that I was doing good, and I was well supplied with systematic arguments. It was only when I lay there on rotting prison straw that I sensed within myself the first stirrings of good. Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either, but right through every human heart, and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. Even within hearts overwhlemed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained; and even in the best of all hearts, there remains a small corner of evil" ((The Gulag Archipelago: 1918-1956, Vol. 2, 615-616).Ketika ia dipenjara, ia tidak pernah kecewa, marah, apalagi mengutuki Allah. Sebaliknya ia bersyukur kepada Allah untuk pengalaman penjara tersebut karena ia menemukan arti hidupnya ketika ia berada dalam penjara, bahkan imannya mengkristal ketika justru ia berada dalam kegelapan hidup yang paling brutal. Saya sering takjub melihat bagaimana penjara seringkali sebuah training ground yang paling ampuh membentuk konfiksi hidup manusia, mulai dari Yusuf di Mesir, Martin Luther King, Jr., sampai Solzhenitsyn:
"That is why I turn back to the years of my imprisonment and say, sometimes to the astonishment of those about me: “Bless you, prison!” I...have served enough time there. I nourished my soul there, and I say without hesitation: “Bless you, prison, for having been in my life!” (The Gulag Archipelago: 1918-1956, Vol. 2, 617).Berikut liputan CNN di hari dia meninggal dunia 3 Agustus 2008:
"God is concerned with the heart - the well-spring of life (Prov 4:23). Parents tend to focus on the externals of behavior rather than the internal overflow of the heart. We tend to worry more about the "what" of behavior than the "why". Accordingly, most of us spend an enormous amount of energy in controlling and constraining behavior. To the degree and extent to which our focus is on behavior, we miss the heart . . . When we miss the heart, we miss the subtle idols of the heart. Romans 1 makes it clear that all human beings are worshippers; either we worship and serve God, or we make an exchange and worship and serve substitutes of God - created things rather than the Creator (Romans 1:18-25) . . . When we miss the heart, we miss the Gospel. Those internal issues: self-love, rebellion, anger, bittnerness, envy, and pride of the heart show our children how profoundly they need grace . . . When we miss the heart, we miss the glory of God. One of the most important callings God has given parents is to display the greatness, goodness, and glory of the God for whom they are made. We know that the greatest delights our children can ever experience are found in delighting in the God who has made them for his glory." (pp xi-xii).
Roh Kudus adalah “Penolong yang lain.” Kata “yang lain” dalam bahasa Yunani adalah kata ‘Halos’, bukan ‘Heteros’. Halos berarti berbeda secara kualitas (Pak Steve bercerita bgmana dirinya berbeda dengan si Bleki karena dia adalah manusia dan Bleki adalah anjing). Heteros berbeda secara bentuk (Pak Steve berbeda dengan seorang peserta CLC Stefanus meski sama manusia, sama mampu makan, tidur, kerja, dst.). Jadi yang dimaksud dalam Injil Yohanes adalah bahwa Roh Kudus adalah Allah, pribadi ketiga dari Allah tritunggal, yang berbeda dalam hal peran dan fungsi.
Banyak orang hari ini yang memanipulasi Roh Kudus. Misal, Pendeta meminta jemaat untuk memberi persembahan. Anggota jemaat bilang dia hanya memiliki tanah yang ternyata tidak bisa dipakai untuk apapun karena tanahnya goyang. Pendeta mengatakan serahkan pada gereja saja, nanti kita doa. Lalu pendeta mengontak salah satu investor dan ternyata investor tersebut bersedia membeli tanpa bertanya tentang kualitas tanah tersebut. Pdt tersebut lalu berkata bahwa Roh Kudus bekerja dan turun menguasai pikiran investor tersebut sehingga mereka tidak lagi bertanya kualitas tanah tersebut. Contoh ini membuat kita seharusnya kritis bertanya apakah itu adalah pekerjaan Roh Kudus atau pekerjaan Setan yang menguasai pikiran pendeta tersebut.
Orang Kristen punya kecenderungan untuk ‘mendandani’ Tuhan. Kita kuatir Tuhan namaNya jelek, sehingga kita berusaha keras untuk merasionalisasi segala hal yang terjadi di sekitar kita. Misal, saat seorang gagal atau mengalami penderitaan, kita tidak mengatakan bahwa Allah mengijinkan atau menghendaki hal tersebut, tetapi kita menganggap orang tersebut pasti ada dosa karena Allah tidak mungkin membuat anaknya gagal atau menderita.
Dalam konteks pimpinan Roh Kudus, maka ayat “Cerdik seperti ular, tulus seperti merpati” artinya apa bagi seorang pengusaha Kristen misalnya? Cerdik seperti ular artinya adalah bahwa ia tidak mudah ditipu oleh orang lain, dan tulus seperti merpati adalah ia tidak menipu orang lain meskipun kesempatan tersebut ada.
Jika kita melihat PB, khususnya Kisah Para Rasul, justru ketika para rasul dan murid Kristus hidup taat dibawah pimpinan Roh Kudus, ketika mereka 'dipenuhi' Roh Kudus, mereka mengalami berbagai penderitaan. Penderitaan fisik dan emosi. Anehnya, hari ini orang Kristen merasa dipenuhi Roh Kudus saat mereka menerima berkat atau menampilkan menifestasi-manifestasi yang lucu dan menggelikan.
Kita adalah orang Kristen yang sangat kampungan jika kita merasa diberkati Allah saat kita mendapat pekerjaan, lulus ujian, memperoleh hadiah, dst. Jika itu konsep berkat yang kita miliki, kita tidak perlu datang kepada Yesus. Karena diluar Yesus, ada banyak dukun dan jimat yang dapat memberikan semua itu. Alkitab mensaksikan bahwa pimpinan dan kepenuhan Allah justru terjadi ketika rencana dan kehendak Allah digenapi dalam hidup seseorang, dan itu berarti penyangkalan diri. Pak Steve memberikan kesaksian bagaimana dia suatu hari ditelpon seseorang yang mengatakan ia memerlukan beberapa puluh juta dalam waktu singkat untuk dapat terus menunjang sekelompok profesional yang ditunjang hidupnya. Tanpa uang tersebut, sekelompok orang ini tidak akan dapat menyelesaikan tugas mereka. Dalam keputusasaan pak Steve bergumul keras karena ia tahu tidak mungkin dapat memperoleh uang sebanyak itu dalam waktu singkat. Tapi tiba-tiba ada seorang lain yg menelpon beliau dan berkata bahwa ia diberkati usahanya oleh Allah dan sudah berjanji akan memberi persembahan iman berupa sebuah mobil utk Pak Steve. Ketika diberi pilihan mobil apa yang ia inginkan, pak Steve sempat bergumul dengan istrinya, namun ia tahu jelas bahwa ini jawaban doanya. Maka ia berkata, "Thanks untuk persembahan kasih dari mu, aku akan pakai uang tersebut utk menolong sekelompok orang yg sedang membutuhkan saat ini. Kalau engkau tulus memberi, bagaimana uang tersebut digunakan adalah 100% hak saya. Thanks yah..." Meski ia butuh mobil saat itu, ia tahu Allah sedang bekerja dalam semua hal tersebut (pak Steve buru-buru menambahkan dia masih tetap perlu mobil kalau ada yang mau memberikan akan ia terima dengan senang hati ..... hahaha :)
Gereja berada dalam sebuah urgency karena ada gap antara doktrin dan hidup. Yang mengaku dipenuhi Roh Kudus doktrinnya kacau balau. Sedangkan yang tahu banyak doktrin, hidupnya kacau balau. Ada seorang pendeta yang dengan berani menyatakan di depan jemaatnya: “Allah memerintahkan saya untuk menikahi sekretaris saya, saya mencoba menolak, tetapi Allah begitu jelas menyatakan kehendakNya berulang-ulang.” Belakangan diketahui bahwa sebelum dia mengeluarkan pernyataan tersebut, ternyata sekretarisnya sudah hamil duluan.
Karya RK memimpin kita kepada seluruh kebenaran. Apa atau siapa kebenaran tersebut? Roh Kudus memimpin kita kepada Kristus, yang adalah Sang Kebenaran. Seorang teolog mengatakan bahwa Roh Kudus adalah ‘the shy member of the Trinity’, karena Dia tidak pernah berkata-kata tentang diriNya sendiri, tetapi selalu menunjuk kepada Kristus Yesus. Sehingga hidup yang dipenuhi Roh Kudus adalah hidup yang semakin serupa Kristus.
Kalau orang Kristen tidak suka baca Alkitab, merenungkan Firman Tuhan, mungkin surga bukan tempat kita. Karena disana kita akan merasa bosan bersekutu, bercakap-cakap dengan Allah sendiri. Bagaimana mungkin kita dapat melewati masa kekal bersama Allah jika kita terus-menerus menolak untuk memakai waktu bersamaNya dalam dunia yang sementara ini?
Ketika seorang peserta bertanya bgmana mengetahui pimpinan Allah dalam mencari jodoh, Yuzo menjawab bahwa Alkitab tidak memberi deskripsi konkrit tentunya untuk memilih pasangan kita. Di Alkitab saja, hanya ada 3 orang yang Allah secara langsung menyediakan istri, yaitu bagi Adam, Ishak, dan Hosea. Dari tiga keluarga yg Allah secara langsung pasangkan tesrebut, dua adalah keluarga bahagia, satu keluarga menderita. Namun ketiganya terjadi untuk menggenapi rencana Allah. Sisanya Allah tidak menunjuk langsung. Tapi Alkitab memberi guideline. Satu, mesti satu dalam iman kepada Kristus Yesus. Kedua, mesti sama-sama memiliki visi untuk memuliakan Allah dalam hidup ini, dan sepanjang hidup ini sebelum dan sesudah menikah dalam profesi, keluarga, mendidik anak, gereja, dst.
In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. I recognized my mistake and I told my wife that I had a liaison with another woman, and I asked for her forgiveness. Although I was honest in every painful detail with my family, I did not tell the public. When a supermarket tabloid told a version of the story, I used the fact that the story contained many falsities to deny it. But being 99% honest is no longer enough.
I was and am ashamed of my conduct and choices, and I had hoped that it would never become public. With my family, I took responsibility for my actions in 2006 and today I take full responsibility publicly. But that misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then. I am and have been willing to take any test necessary to establish the fact that I am not the father of any baby, and I am truly hopeful that a test will be done so this fact can be definitively established. I only know that the apparent father has said publicly that he is the father of the baby. I also have not been engaged in any activity of any description that requested, agreed to or supported payments of any kind to the woman or to the apparent father of the baby.
It is inadequate to say to the people who believed in me that I am sorry, as it is inadequate to say to the people who love me that I am sorry. In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up – feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help.
I have given a complete interview on this matter and having done so, will have nothing more to say.
